Schiphol taxi cost: meter or fixed price?
The price of a taxi to Schiphol depends on pickup address and vehicle. A street taxi may combine starting, distance and time charges within official maximum rates. For pre-booked transport, check whether the displayed total is guaranteed in writing and which terms apply.
Two different pricing models
A street taxi may combine a starting charge, distance and time. The Dutch government publishes the current national maximum rates. Because they can change, this guide links to the official source instead of copying figures.
A pre-booked journey may have a fixed total. Check whether it is confirmed in writing and what the terms say about waiting, changes, cancellation, tolls, luggage and detours.
Compare fairly
| Question | Metered ride | Pre-booked fixed price | |---|---|---| | When is the total known? | After the ride | Before payment | | What sets the price? | Start, distance and time under current rules | Quote for route, date and vehicle | | What about traffic? | Time may form part of the meter | Check whether the total remains guaranteed |
Current starting prices
The calculator uses exact addresses. Starting prices on city pages come from the central route facts and apply from the nearest point in a city; they are not a quote for every address.
